Petplanet.co.uk is a privately held business
headquartered in Livingston, Scotland. We are fully
independent and have no ties to any manufacturers or
traditional (i.e. ‘bricks and mortar’ shops or catalogue
based) retailers. A team of over 20 people are responsible for creating the content you
find on our site.

We founded the business in mid-1999 as a result
of frustration at the poor quality of pet information
and services available on the Internet for UK pet
lovers. Both of
the founding partners have been surrounded by pets for
most of their lives, and are keen to encourage
responsible and informed pet ownership. PetPlanet.co.uk will
never be involved in the direct resale of pets. It is
our intention to foster positive relationships with the
registered pet charities and breed societies through
ongoing consultation and by seeking their approval for
all relevant content.

We make a return on sales through our on-line
shop, fulfilling all orders ourselves out of our
Livingston facility. We also generate some advertising
revenue from third parties advertising on our site.
However, whilst we are a commercial operation, we also
believe that content that encourages informed and
responsible pet ownership should be free and ubiquitous.
To this end, we do not charge businesses for basic
services listings on our site and have avoided any
exclusive commercial links that would limit the range of
local or travel services listed on our site. You
will not find any premium rate ‘expert advice’ phone
numbers on the PetPlanet.co.uk site.
We encourage feedback from all users of the site,
whether registered members or casual browsers. Whilst we welcome
phone calls, we prefer the use of e-mail as this helps
us to respond in an efficient manner.
