The amount of money American pet owners are spending on their animal's funerals is soaring, it has been reported.
Pet funeral services are enjoying a booming trade in the US, according to the Telegraph.
The total amount spent this year is expected to reach $43.3 billion (£21.6 billion) and traditional undertakers are branching out to receive their share of the spoils.
Services offered by pet funeral firms range from a full service, cremation, graveside funerals, urns, casket viewing rooms and chapels.
Coleen Ellis, who founded the Pet Angel Memorial Centre, which opened a new outlet in Florida this week, told the publication that her firm had taken the process and humanised it to bring it into the "world of pet parenting".
"They might walk on four legs and wear a little fur coat but they're still a member of the family. For people who feel that, this sort of service makes absolute sense," she added.
