So you want a Lancashire Heeler [20/03/2002]
There is so little known about Lancashire Heelers that is available to the general public: a paragraph or two maybe in a Dog Encyclopedia, Book of Breeds or internet site. Experienced dog owners go to a breed society, but what about everyone else?
After helping PetPlanet.co.uk complete the Lancashire Heeler breed profile, I realised later that the one thing missing from the internet was a fully informative web site about this breed, giving information on all aspects of the breed, from choosing a puppy to every aspect of its care.
The Lancashire Heeler Information Website aims to change all that. The information is freely available to everyone, the site is child and family friendly, and hopefully it is totally objective and impartial. I have four Lancashire Heelers of my own, and each and every one has their own personalities, so here and there a little of them may creep in - especially in the photographs on the site. In my aim to create an unbiased and easily navigated web site, I ask the Lancashire Heeler lovers who are starting to spread world wide, to give me an insight into what information, they would like to see included.
At this point I must say that I do not and will not place puppies for sale on the site. I get a lot of emails and telephone calls from prospective owners wanting to know about puppies for sale.
The first thing I am doing to promote the Lancashire Heeler and the website is to run a competition to find Twelve Lancashire Heelers to star in the 2003 Lancashire Heeler Information Calendar. To enter all you have to do is to email a favourite photograph of your Lancashire Heeler giving the age, sex and Sire and Dam of your best little friend, your email address, and home address. The Twelve winning Dog Photographs will win a Doggy Goodie Bag for the Star of the photograph (kindly sponsored by our good friends Pet Planet.co.uk) and not to be left out Mum and Dad will receive a complementary copy of the 2003 calendar.
So call in and take a look, enter your Lancashire Heeler in the competition, and let us know your thoughts and views on the website. All emails are replied to, and all comments good and bad are looked into. We do our best to answer all questions and queries within 24-48 hours, although articles take a little longer especially where research is required. Our address is: www.lancashireheeler.info
