Novartis Animal Health, the people behind the Fleaphone Goldcard, offer a revolutionary new way of dealing with fleas effectively. It's a method that's been specially developed with the help of leading veterinary dermatologist David Scarff and Dr John Maunder, head of the Cambridge Medical Entomology Centre.
In a nutshell, the new approach involves using just a quick one-off burst of spot-on and spray insecticides to get rid of an existing flea infestation, followed by the long-term use of an Insect Development Inhibitor (PROGRAM) to prevent a re-infestation.
This 'short sharp shock' method of flea control will be devastatingly effective against fleas. But there are other benefits for pet owners. In an age when more and more people are concerned about the effects of long-term exposure to the insecticides in spot-ons and sprays, it's good to know that after just a few weeks, owners and their pets can usually remain free of conventional insecticides. The new regime also represents the most cost-effective way of dealing with the problem immediately.
The Fleaphone Goldcard entitles the holder to free advice from Novartis' Customer Careline telephone number, printed on the front of the card. It also gives a handy reminder of their new website address: www.fleafree.co.uk.
The launch of the Fleaphone Goldcard comes at an opportune time. With the relatively cold summer weve had so far, and the recent rise in temperatures, experts believe that we could soon be in for a 'flea population explosion'.
The Fleaphone Goldcard is available free from veterinary surgeons.
