The PetPlanet.co.uk team are often asked for advice about buying a puppy, and when writing my book About the Border Terrier, this was a top question. We believe that the best way to choose a suitable puppy is to find out information from owners and breeders. Visiting shows and other dog events and talking to owners can ensure you choose the right puppy. Owning a dog isn't just about having your dog at home: there's lots of fun for you both at events around the country. Wiz and Wyvern, my Border Terriers, don't compete at shows - but love to get out and meet other dogs. This is Wiz's Diary of some of the many events around the country this year. We even include events where you can't take British dogs (yet) but which are fun to visit. When Wiz knows, he gives entrance fees for adults/OAPs and children as appropriate. If you want to go away for the weekend, look up Wiz and Wyvern's favourite hotels reviewed on the site. They are all dog-friendly, and often have special deals. Every month we will feature a top event, give details of other events, and add new events as Wiz sniffs them out. If you want your event featured here, send details to info@petplanet.co.uk His paws can't use a mouse, but he is an expert at tearing open envelopes. And remember, although Wiz works hard at making sure all the information is correct, you should still double-check before heading out. We cannot be responsible for information which we are given and then changed! Or if the show is cancelled. It happens. So we look forward to seeing you here each month to see what is happening near you, or to get ideas for Dog-Days-Out. 14 December 2000 |
