I'd been searching for some time for something similar as I needed to keep out a neighbours cat, but also occasionally ground my own as he is somewhat of a wanderer and his visits home become less and less frequent! without restricting his very well behaved sister! As a bonus, it also stays shut when its windy.......! This fulfils both roles admirably, even showing you if your cat is in or out of the house. Its straightforward to fit, and programming it isn't difficult with the manual in hand and ten minutes to spare. The only downside is that the noise of the flap unlocking was unnerving my cat, but she eventually got used to it after a few days and a little encouragement read pushing through the cat flap now and then. Build quality is good, although the batteries are awkward to fit. All in all a great piece of kit. Just somewhat pricey - but a small amount to pay for the ability to control all cats movements in and out of your home. We have an 8 year old cat that has always had access to the garden via a cat flap. We recently extended our family with 2 kittens that we won't be letting out until they are a lot older and neutered if at all if i get my way. So we were in a situation that my older cats access was being restricted to when we were there to let her in and out, or having to keep remembering to lock the cat flap every time we let the kittens out of their room. So we needed a product that would allow my older cat free access and not let my kittens out.We purchased the cat flap and initially were not sure if it was going to be any good as my older cat is very nervous and when she goes to use the cat flat it make a noise to unlock which is quite noisy and frightened her off. However after 3 days of training she is using it like a professional and is finding it much easier to use than her old electromagnetic cat flap. I also love the fact that i can give her a curfew i.e. after 21:00 and before 07:00 she can only come in if she is out, but is will not allow her back out. I can also tell if everybody is in or out without having to hunt around the house by using the indicators on the cat flap. if i had one criticism it is that the tags are a bit big, it's fine if you have a big cat like mine, but my kittens are looking a bit like medallion man at the moment.
