Customer Reviews:                     Great cat flap posted on 16/04/2009 by judi £99.99 for the Pet Porte, £50 for a new door panel the hole in the old one was too big for the Pet Porte, £50 to have my two boys re-chipped their old microchips would not work with the Pet Porte and the joiner's bill still to come. Worth it? Yes, yes, yes! Unlike one or two other reviewers I have not experienced any problems with it so far perhaps because it was beautifully fitted by a professional?. The boys were so inquisitive when they saw me assembling it that they virtually scanned themselves - I didn't need anyone to hold it or them. They started using it immediately after installation with no fuss. I do live in a very, very windy part of the country so there is, I guess, the possibility that on wild days the flap might not close properly behind them - but then few cats want to be out in such conditions and it can simply be locked for a while. The great thing is that the ruffian who has been ruining our lives for the past few months now CAN'T GET IN! Hooray. We can enjoy our home in peace. I no longer have to put on gardening gloves in order to drag him out from under my bed he attacks. A friend, who is in a wheelchair and who was also being plagued by a rogue feline and to whom I gave details of the Pet Porte, is similarly delighted with hers. Was a little wary having read a couple of reviews where people had problems of fitting and scanning range, but for the device was quick and easy to fit and has worked perfectly since installation. Our two cats took to it immediately and there have been so far no anomalies. We fitted the flap in a double-glazed conservatory panel, which was easy to cut, file the edges clean, and fit without issue. As another reviewer has said, time will tell whether or not the exposed electronics under the porch outside will continue working as they should, so I shall keep my receipt guarantee easily to hand for the next 12 months! If I had to say something negative about the product I would say that the flap itself seems a little insubstantial, but I guess the cats are pleased that it's not too heavy or cumbersome to open! Our problem of cats coming in to the house has now been resolved, and it is now a major sport watching the odd cat try and come in, to no avail. It is good to know it is only our cats in the house not that we do not like our neighbours cats and it is good for our cats to come home and not find anyone sleeping in their beds! I wish I could have bought 1 five years ago. posted on 05/11/2008 We ordered the cat flap a month ago, it said it was going to take 2 weeks to come which was ok. We couldn't wait for it to arrive as my 2 cats were being attacked by other cats in their own home, and the other cats were eating all their food. I was a bit worried that if it didn't work as it was a lot of money, I was also very worried that the micro chip wouldn't be in range of the reader as the cats have them in their backs. But I can't believe how amazing it is, We haven't had any cats in the house in the last 2 weeks and when we get home from work there is still food in their bowls!! So thank you very much. It is fantastic. I would recommend this product to everyone.                     brill easy to use posted on 24/10/2008 by julia35 was a absolute swine to install..have done several cat flaps in past never usually taken longer than a hour..but this took 4hours and lots of swearing.. once installed was simple to set up to use its been a pleasure..was easier to scan cat b4 install incase u spend hours and microchip not right one.. my cat still kitten really so he not done more than watch world and poke head through it but it beeps at him so knows it works...hopefully he will work out that he can go out over next few weeks                     Love it. posted on 08/11/2008 by Thierry Merven Works very well with his microchip and also stops other cats from entering the house. Reasonably easy to install with the right tools. Having more trouble getting our cat used to the flap instead of an open door than anything else. Other cats are still trying to get into the house, but that problem has now been solved with the flap and our kitten looks so much more comfortable. The options on the flap are very good and useful. We have used almost all the options to control our kitten on staying inside, allowing him to go out and stopping him from wandering out at night when it's dark. It would be great to have a battery / electricity option. A little more pricey than the other options on the market, but we think it's still worth it. A life saver...                     Could be Excellent! posted on 19/03/2009 by karen126 I recently had the Petporte catflap fitted as I was fed up with intruder cats coming in one in particular, It would be brilliant except as a reviewer said above it does not always close properly leaving it wide open for other cats to gain entry, I have mentioned this to petporte and a lovely lady there suggested I adjust the bolts on the outside I will ask the person who fitted it to try that to see if it helps, in the meantime I would be interested to know how your other reviewer solved the problem did she attach a weight to help it close? as you can appreciate it cost a lot of money and if this is sorted Im sure the problem with other cats entering will be solved PetPlanet Says: We are pleased to confirm the customer in this review is now speaking with the manufacturers in order to resolve the issues raised. Pet Porte have advised that problems may occur with the closing of the flap if it has not been fitted correctly and have also advised that any customer having problems with this should contact them directly on 01481 265 359 and they will be happy to assist you.                     Very Good product, can see some room for improvement though posted on 12/11/2008 by bob31 This is a good product that solves an age old problem of stray cats coming into your house whilst only allowing your own and without using a collar. I recommend the use of silicone sealer to try and sheild the electronics if you have this on an outside door as I do. Only time will tell if the components will resist damp, fur, grit etc. that get brought through the cat flaps. First impressions though - it certainly works!                     Handy to have, but still needs extra work. posted on 18/11/2008 by Warrick2404 This is a decent cat flap, and the scanner works really well. The problem is that sometimes the flap doesn't close properly when one of the cats comes through, which means any old moggy can stroll on through. I've decided I'm going to add a small weight to the outside of the flap, to bring it down with more force and hopefully make it lock every time. Still, when you're paying £100 for a cat flap, you don't want to be having to add little DIY features to make it work.
