We recommend consulting your vet when feeding veterinary diet foods. Read More
Therapeutic veterinary diets are carefully formulated and recommended to be used in conjunction with veterinary advice and support. Royal Canin strongly recommend you seek advice from your vet prior to and during feeding of any of these products to your pet.
DescriptionRoyal Canin Dental is formulated for the nutritional management of daily oral hygiene in dogs over 10kg, limiting the development of dental plaque and tartar, and also helping to fight bad breath. Specially shaped kibbles have a mild abrasive effect on dental plaque and tartar when chewed, helping to remove tartar from the dogís teeth. Sodium polyphosphate binds salivary calcium, making it unavailable for tartar formation. Chondroitin inhibits enzymatic action on chondrocytes and hydrates cartilage, while glucosamine stimulates the synthesis of glycosaminoglycans and hyaluronic acid, and highly digestible protein, from what gluten, limits fermentation processes in the intestine, reducing flatulence. Rice, a highly digestible source of starch, improves the overall diet digestibility, and FOS and beet pulp stimulate the growth of beneficial intestinal flora.

It does what it claims! posted on 28/12/2010 by Paul
As a pup the vet did highlight plaque build up on our dogs teeth. As soon as he was adult we switch him to RC Dental and have been using it for over a year now. He loves it (and the RC Cocker Spaniel breed specific). More importantly at his last six month health check the nurse was most complimentary on the condition of his teeth. It may not be the cheapest but it is considerably less than elsewhere and could save you the cost of dental work and having to put your dog through a proceedure needing GA.

Had to have my dog's teeth scaled - costs a small fortune as requires anaesthetic - and this really does prevent tartar build up. Best price and excellent fast delivery

I had my dog's teeth scaled and polished at enormous expense so am trying to keep them nice and shiny to save having to do it again in the future, the vet recommended the Hills version of dental dog food but this is cheaper and dog likes it just as well. I'm currently mixing it 50/50 with other dried dog food and a bowlful just vanishes
Does what it says on the packet! posted on 03/06/2010 by Jo Hughes
My whippet has an allergy to plaque so it is lips that suffer rather than his gums, and the tartar doesn't have to be bad for ulcers to flare up. Over the years he's had several descale operations and teeth removed. Now he's on this dental food the tartar has not returned so his lips are nice and pale instead of ulcerated and infected. I'm not sure who's more pleased - us, the vet or my whippet!
