Orijen 6 Fish is a BARK (Biologically Appropriate Real-Food Kibble) diet, made from fresh fish from the Atlantic, Pacific and Arctic oceans, as well as Canadas own clean, cold freshwater lakes. Bursting with a variety of wild-caught, human-grade fish, including 6 fresh, never frozen, regional species - Chinook salmon, lake whitefish, lake trout, northern walleye, freshwater cod and herring - Orijens exceptional formula is loaded with fresh fish proteins to optimally nourish your dog. Infused with fresh (not rendered) marine-source Omega 3 essential fatty acids (EPA and DHA), Orijen supports peak conditioning and a vibrant skin and hair coat. Grain-free and low-carbohydrate, Orijen contains a full compliment of regional fruits and vegetables including sweet and russet potatoes, sun-cured alfalfa, blackcurrants and sunflower from local prairie farms, and apples and cranberries from the interior orchards. Sea vegetables are hand-harvested from Canadas nutrient-rich tidal range, including kelp, Irish moss, dulse and bladder wrack, rich sources of B vitamins and trace minerals including zinc, manganese, selenium. Chicory, psyllium, sweet fennel, calendula flowers and peppermint leaf replicate the natural diet, helping nourish and tone the digestive tract and strengthen the liver. And, because of its high-quality protein content, your dog doesn’t need to eat as much kibble as he does with other dry foods, meaning a single bag lasts much longer, e.g. a 30 kilo dog with a normally active lifestyle requires only 275g of Orijen kibble per day. Delicate stomachs need Orijen

Our Japanese Chins have delicate stomachs The breeder had brought them up on a BARF diet and we continued with that regime until one of the dogs nearly choked to death on a piece of raw chicken We searched for a high quality natural food and tried many different brands with very mixed results One week of Orijen and both dogs were brighter had more energy improved coats and consistent regular stools of the right consistency The format means Orijen can be used as treats is easy to store and transport for days out and holidays One rattle of the bag and the dogs race into the kitchen drooling Expensive Yes but we feed them less to maintain their target weight can buy in bulk and have definitely saved on vets bills

YES it is bloomin expensive BUT it is so worth the money On the plus side because it is so high in protein you dont need to feed so much Dee is a typical beardie with the typical dodgy digestion She suffers badly with acid reflux but since she has been on origen she has been so much better the amount of episodes has dropped massively she is a lot happier in herself her coat is good her energy and stamina levels are up she is one of the top beardies in the UK in the agility circit and now starting to try canicross as well

The best kibble for healthy dogs..

I am gradually introducing this kibble into my 2 mini dachshunds diet.. having done lots of research about it's quality and effects it has. It has a high amount of protein and no filler such as cereals and beet etc. Before this my doxies were on Burns which is also good, but does not have nearly as much meat content. It is expensive but is very dense so when you weigh it out you don't need too much, it lasts and I am happy to pay for quality. The company website staff were very helpful when I rang up with questions about high protein in the food it is a myth that it can affect kidneys, as my vet later confirmed . My boys have just had their annual health check and the vet was very happy with their superb condition and their trim weight doxies are prone to weight gain and it can be fatal for their backs. I have started on the lower recommended amounts, and have had to increase slightly on the more hyper of the two as he is like a rasher of wind due to his high metabolism. Absolutely over the moon to have found this kibble, and my lads adore it. Do introduce it gradually to avoid tummy upsets. I started with 1/4 ratio of Orijen to 3/4 Burns and over a period of 8 weeks have increased and decreased accordingly. No upset tummy at all for either sausage dog. Lots of info on the website and well worth getting a trial bag to see if your dog likes it before you invest in a large bag.
