Drontal is effective in the control of gastrointestinal Roundworms and is also effective against Hookworms and Whipworms, all of which are present in the UK, in dogs and puppies. Puppies should be treated at 2 weeks of age and every 2 weeks until 12 weeks of age. Thereafter they should be treated at 3 monthly intervals throughout their lifetime. This product may be administered whilst the bitch is lactating but we recommend that you consult a veterinary surgeon before treating a bitch whilst she is pregnant. My new puppy was treated with this by the breeder so I was very pleased that this product was available to purchase 'over the counter' so that I could continue treatment.
A minor drawback was the lack of a syringe since I prefer to dispense this straight into puppy's mouth rather than mix it with food since she rarely eats her entire meal.
