It doesn't have a strong smell itself, rather a pleasant mild fragrance. As you have to saturate the area affected it doesn't go far but then it's not that small a bottle and its not very expensive either. I will definitely buy it again. Admittedly I was using on an area where my cat had used several times and i was using it specfically to get rid of odour. I ended up covering the whole area of carpet with the whole contents on the bottle to make sure it was saturated etc. But there is still a very distinct smell there. Unless I did something wrong - didn't get it all back out of the carpet at the time - I was very disappointed as there is a still very strong smell coming from that area of carpet. The carpet is cream and after a period of time and various different products the carpet had turned a dark yellowish colour, very unsightly. My last resort before taking my whole carpet up and replacing it was to try this simple solution. At first when the carpet was soaked with the solution it seemed to disappear, then when it dried it came back a little to a light yellowish colour. After a week and now fully dry you can hardly notice anything there other than the scrubbed area from me trying to clean the stain out on previous occassions. I used it on cream wool carpet and normal green carpet with no effect on the dye at all. It lifts the stain and removes all trace, with no smell. Depending on how big the accidents are, you may get through a lot of this. For new pups where it all comes out at once, I'd recommend keeping 2-3 in. Even though my pups are now trained, I still keep a bottle for things like when they are sick to treat the bottle. If you have a new puppy and carpeted floors - you MUST buy this. It really does work, smells nice and has removed dog urine stains from a wool carpet. Now that I have have found this product I am stocking up with it. All I can say is that it works, its worth every penny and also works on grease stains as well.... you MUST try it. I had a problem with my 13 year old shetland collie having little accidents on my carpets due to his age and this product has eliminated every stain and odour he ever created, it's so easy to use and it doesn't require much effort to scrub the stain away. I have safely used it on my carpets and my sofa and it is non-abrasive. It is also very handy for any messes made in the house as I would say it works on just about any stain. Best of all I don't have to worry about it harming my cat or dog or my 3 year old daughter as it is non-toxic. It is great value and does last a long time as you only need a little bit of it to clean a stain or remove an odour. I also use this product to wash out my cats litter tray as it leaves it fresh and hygienically clean. I really have found no down side to this product at all. A great product, I make sure I always have a bottle handy. If you mop up the liquid and apply this on top, neat (don't scrub it in), it seems to remove all trace - unlike so many cleaners which take the colour out of your carpet along with the stain. Trigger spray is good for hard floors, like kitchen, but if you're going to use it on carpet, I'd recommend the normal bottle so you can pour it on.
