I was worried because I have never seen them drink from the fountain. They obviously drink a lot of water when we're not looking because the litter is wet and the fountain needs replenishing quite frequently! They're not obtaining water from elsewhere since they are indoor cats and excluded from bathroom and kitchen. Hope this encouraged you to give this another go! The blue dome is better than the fountain as they can access the water together, do not have to lean over to reach the fountain and the water just tricles over the dome so they do not choke. Brilliant device. Only little word of advice - make sure the dome runs out and when it does wash out with weak Bi carb solution - otherwise if you just keep topping up the water in the outside clear section areas become mildewy in the dome and virtually impossible to get out. Also recommend the mat helps as makes it quite but not essential PetPlanet Says: Petplanet.co.uk do not advise allowing the dome to run out as this can cause problems with the pump. To keep this drinking fountain in good condition we recommend that you clean this product weekly in a solution of 50/50 vinegar and water. I originally got my Catit water fountain last year when one of my older cats got stones in the bladder. All my cats like the fountain and they drink from the reservior as well as licking the dome. I was unaware that the filters needed to be changed frequently, this affects the smooth running of the fountain, it can be noisy if the filter is old. I never let my cats have anything else to drink, they used to have milk until I found out it was bad for them. The fountain is really good I clean it out every few weeks and I know the cats have a good supply of fresh water. I have a Rottweiler, so someone with a smaller dog will probably get a longer life from their filter. At 3 to a pack, you need to order a couple of packs at once.
