I also own a German Shepherd dog and completely agree with the comments made by the previous GSD owner the ball split in a matter of seconds Can only conclude that this item is not suitable for large breed dogs

Works well if you follow the instructions BUT only works with doggy type tennis balls not actual tennis balls they are too big and don't actually come out of the launcher no matter how hard you fling it. Get a cheap pack of doggy type balls and launch away
