When registering with PetPlanet.co.uk, we ask for your e-mail address. This allows us to efficiently communicate with you to inform you of special offers or new services on the site.  We will not make your e-mail address details known to any third party. It is clearly not in our interests to irritate you with irrelevant e-mail communication, so be assured that we will limit the volume of e-mail traffic you receive from us. All emails have a link to our unsubscribe page. Should you wish not to receive e-mail from PetPlanet.co.uk prior to registering your details, please send an email (from your registered email address) to info@petplanet.co.uk entitled "no email" and we will have you unsubscribed.

We also ask for your postcode details to enable you to utilise some of our value-added features (such as identifying local services near to you).  We ask for you full address detail, of course, to enable delivery should you shop at our on-line store. We will not make these details available to any third party.

Any messages posted on the message board in our Pet Talk area become public information, so we advise users not to post personal information.  We regularly check the content of messages in this area, but cannot be responsible for any of the opinions posted.

The PetPlanet.co.uk site utilises a full separate proxy server with firewall software to prevent hackers from accessing our internal network. Additionally we split data between multiple servers to enhance security further and increase server performance.

Data is protected from interception whilst being transmitted to and from the site by use of Digi-Sign Inc. Encryption.

Digi-Sign Digital ID Authentic Sites have made security a priority and have been through a formal verification process, assuring that the organization running the site has the authority to use the name represented by the site. Verify that the site is authenticated by a Digi-Sign Digital ID by checking:

  • The page's URL.

URLs for secure pages begin with https instead of the standard http.  Your browser's secure connection indicators. If you are using Netscape Navigator, look for a solid blue line at the top of the page and a connected key in the lower left corner. In Microsoft's Internet Explorer, you will see a padlock in the lower right corner. Other browsers have similar visual cues. 

  • The site's certificate.
