Undergravel filters draw water through the gravel to mechanically and biologically filter debris and bacteria. The system consists of a plastic grate that keeps the gravel off the bottom of the tank, lift tubes to deliver water, and power heads or an air pump to move the water. The power heads and air pump need to be purchased separately.
