	Springer with Pale Gums Q: I am looking after a springer spaniel for a friend who is on holiday, She has developed very pale gums and eyes, she recently has been on antibiotics for a womb infection. Should I take her to the vet?

A: You need to seek urgent veterinary attention for your friend's dog, as pale gums and eyes indicate a poor circulation, possible causes include blood loss, cardiac failure, and anaemia. These conditions need veterinary treatment. I don't mean to alarm you, and it may turn out that all is well and this is a false alarm, but I would err on the side of caution and get her seen as soon as possible.
