A:Can you walk a bitch when she is in season? PetPlanet Talk Adminstrator PPAdmin pettalk@petplanet.co.uk Your lab will be in season for at least 2-3 weeks, and during that time she must be kept well away from un-neutered male dogs. Do not let any get to the stage of "trying it on" or you will have an unwanted pregnancy on your hands. So do not take her anywhere where there are likely to be other dogs. Also, bear in mind that dogs will go to great lengths to get at a bitch in season so eg do not leave her unattended in your garden even if it has a 6 foot fence round it. If, despite your best efforts, she does get mated, contact your vet immediately. Jen Campbell MRCVS (Vet for PetPlanet)
