A: Male Cat being who is being Neutered PetPlanet Vets PPAdmin pettalk@petplanet.co.uk
Although neutering is accepted as being necessary, declawing is not always
approved of by British vets, as it is a mutilation. I assume you must be American or have some really good reason for getting it done. At least you want to make the experience as atraumatic as possible.
Your vet will hopefully provide some sort of pain relief for the time immediately following the operation, but you can use the homoeopathic remedies Arnica, for bruising and pain, and Hypericum, for wounds and crushed nerves, to greatly relieve discomfort and speed healing. You can start these beforehand. For the emotional distress of being in the vets you could try homoeopathic Aconite or the Bach Rescue Remedy. Ignatia can also help with the anxiety of separation. A little Lavender aromatherapy oil on a tissue placed in the cage will also help to calm the cat.
