A: Golden Cocker Spaniel Temperaments PetPlanet Vets PPAdmin pettalk@petplanet.co.uk
Speaking personally, the most vicious and unpleasant dog that I have ever had to deal with in twelve years as a veterinary surgeon was a golden cocker spaniel! It doesn't have to be this may however as many behavioural difficulties can be avoided by handling the dog correctly. This applies to all breeds of dog. Obviously however there are some breeds where there is a greater tendency to various types of aggression.
Having said all this, I don't think I would choose to have a golden cocker spaniel as they do come with a bad reputation despite their good looks.I would also recommend that you speak to your vet before you get the puppy, for advice about how to care for the puppy (in the broadest sense) and read a copy of a book entitled "The Perfect Puppy" by Gwen Bailey (you may need to get it via your vet), price £12.99.
