Cat has pellet removed from face [09/12/2008]
A one-year-old Bengal cat has been left with severe injuries after he was shot in the face, it has been reported.

Portlethen pussy cat Benji has undergone surgery to have a pellet removed from deep within his skull, according to the Aberdeen Evening Press.

The report noted that the cat carried the pellet for four days before a vet in Edinburgh removed the pellet.

Karen Ash, 30, the cat's owner, told the publication she was shocked when she discovered her pet cat had been shot.

"We are really surprised at the time of day this happened - between 11.30am and noon on a Sunday morning. What a mindless act," she added.

Meanwhile, the BBC News reported last week that the Welsh Assembly has published an official guide for pet owners to remind them of their responsibilities.

Rural affairs minister Elin Jones said that cruelty figures are on the riser so the assembly thought it wise to issue the guidance.
