Lucky dogs receive human treatment [28/08/2007]
Lucky dogs are being treated more and more like members of the family, receiving human names and even their own social networking sites.

An increasing number of pooches are being given names such as Max and Princess and even more are being listed on canine friendship site, Dogster.com, reports Reuters.

Pampered pets are no longer being called Rover or Rex and, according to the New York City Department of Health and Mental Hygiene, the top five dog names in the borough are Max, Lucky, Princess, Rocky and Buddy.

And some mutts are even surfing the web with their own doggie version of Friendster, Dogster, which has attracted in excess of 300,000 furry members since its launch.

Meanwhile, dogs from all over the world were paraded on their own canine catwalk at New York's Pet Fashion Week.

The show featured designs from 20 of the world's leading pet fashion houses.
