Hills Prescription Diet Dog s/d is specifically designed for the nutritional management of dogs with urinary tract disease. This diet has been formulated to help dissolve struvite crystals and stones alleviating discomfort. Struvite forms as a result of urine that’s saturated with protein, calcium, phosphorus and magnesium combined with an improper urine PH.

Key benefits:

  • Helps dissolve struvite stones
  • Targets an acid urinary PH to help increase the solubility of struvite

My dog Glen loves it Anon on 26 September 2016

Glen my 16 year old retriever has been diagnosed with chronic kidney disease and has been given only a few months more. He has been put on a special diet and can have no more ordinary treats. It is great that we can get this dog food here because the vet cannot get it. Glen prefers this one to the one the vet supples. Between this dog food and the medication we are hoping that he will have longer than just a few months. It all helps.

She hates it-but must eat it Tanya on 2 October 2018

My dog Gypsy, a 10-year-old 11kg Cavalier-King-Charles Spaniel (with a heart condition) hates it-she, in fact, went on a two-day hunger strike. And who can blame her, It is a grey, textureless, congealed blob. But she has to eat it in order to dissolve her HUGE bladder stone. Her stone is getting smaller (it is now half the size) The food works but you can't let them have anything else. Follow your vet's instructions to the letter. She is eating this, taking antibiotics, and an anti-inflammatory with regular monitoring via ultrasound and urine checks. We are avoiding surgery if at all possible due to her age and heart condition. Of note, this can cause constipation (it did) so watch for that and be ready to ask for the appropriate meds to deal with that issue.
