Improved colitis posted on 13/05/2014 by judy71
My 18 month old springer spaniel developed colitis despite being given a high quality diet as recommended by a local pet shopThe vet suggested this food and after about 3 weeks the symptoms virtually disappeared This is much cheaper than getting it from the vet and is the genuine product the vet checked with Hills Ive made 2 orders one on next day delivery the second on standard Both were timely I highly recommend
A possible cure for wind posted on 26/03/2014 by hugh
Our whippetstaff cross rescue used to make one awful smell The ZD food although pretty expensive does seem to have made him less prone to wind and he is in tremendous condition
Fantastic all round posted on 24/04/2013 by Lotus Elaine
Our 6yr old Boxer dog loves this He used to be on the Burns Fish and Maize but changes to it upset him We are very limited on choice because he has a rice allergy And being dog food manufacturers they do not have to list all of the ingredients And MOST do actually contain some rice He was great on the Burns for about a year or so but they must have changed the actual quantities of the ingredients at some point They are allowed to do this without changing the packaging because the ingredients inside are still the same just in different quantities And these changes however slight they may have been made his eyes smeggy and upset his stomach a bit too The Vet told us that the only way to guarantee there would be no changes to the food at all was to go down the prescription diet route so we did And he is a totally different dog There is no smeg build up in his eyes in the mornings Nor track marks on his face And his stools are always perfect poos Pet Planet are by far the cheapest for the Hills ZD and their delivery times are fantastic
It works! posted on 27/10/2009 by Leigh
I have to admit that my once very poorly dog has now completely recovered following the switch to Hills z/d. Although ridiculously expensive Hills ........ please take note!, PetPlanet is the cheapest place to buy especially considering the fast and free delivery. I feel I have to give a 5 star rating as this food has drastically improved the quality of life of my allergic dog.
Good value compared to vets prices posted on 17/07/2009 by
I bought this product as my vet recommended it due to my dog suffering from atopic dermatitis. Its really expensive but much better value at Pet Planet and the free delivery is great as I can have it delivered to my door whilst saving me money on the vets prices! It also makes a huge difference to the quality of life for my dog helping to alleviate the scratching and ear problems associated with this condition.
A good product posted on 15/08/2012 by Jimbo35
My border collie Lass who is now 11months old has been on this diet for 1 month due to severe skin irritation and itching the PDSA suggested this and it seems to be alleviating the most of the problem The vet said it may take up to 3 months to fully see the results and then Lass will have to keep on this diet for the rest of her life
A necessary product posted on 05/02/2010 by Clare
My dog suffers severe Atopic Dermatitis. So bad that he not only scratches until he bleeds, he vomits, and suffers from attacks of diarrhoea and his fur falls out. I have actually been stopped by dog owners concerned that I am abusing my dog! Z/D is a life-saver and does allow for my dogs skin to calm down and gives him the plain diet that he needs. It is very plain. My dog is not over the moon about it but he will eat it. Many foods that claim to be hypoallergenic still cause him problems so Z/D achieves something that many other foods have not.
OK but I have found Ziwipeak better for my dog posted on 12/06/2012 by fiona
My vet recommended this dog food after my fussy pug decided not to eat a single kibble of the allergy free variety from Hills He has atopic dermatitis and often gets porrly earsskindandruffy type coat etc As he is allergic to chicken and this does have chicken in it despite this the vet said to go ahead as the protein molecules were small enough to not trigger a reaction I was of course sceptical of this as since finding out he was allergic to chickenduckdandelions I have been very careful to avoid them in his foods Previous to this food he was on Ziwipeak he liked the venison but not the lamb variety and was doing well But the vet presuaded me to try this instead My observations are this 1 He seems to still get poorly from time to time so this is not 100 effective 2 His anal glands are very bad and this was not a problem before So in all I am switching back to the Ziwipeak which is more expensive gram for gram but what price good health and well being for my beloved pug
